Faithly Terms of use

Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Faithly helps churches translate their services live, so everyone in the room can follow the message. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Faithly, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, write to contact@faithly.live.

1. Who we are

Faithly ("Faithly", "we", "us") is based in Sydney, Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to everyone who uses faithly.live, the Faithly web app and the Faithly desktop app, including:

3. Information we collect

Churches, hosts and the waiting list

Church name and address, denomination, the contact person's name, email and phone number, the service region you choose, any message you send us, and your church's branding (logo and colours). Hosts also give us the details they use to sign in.

Listeners

If you join as a guest, we store the name you enter and a random identifier kept in your browser, so you can rejoin. If you create an account, we also store your email address or phone number, your preferred language and when you last used Faithly. We record which services you joined, the language and voice you chose, and any feedback or rating you give.

Service content

When a church runs a service, audio from the host's device is sent to our speech recognition provider to create live captions. We store the resulting transcripts, the translations, translated audio, and any sermon notes or documents the church uploads to improve accuracy. If a person's voice or words are captured in a service, they may form part of this content.

Technical and usage information

Device and browser type, connection quality and timing (so we can keep captions in sync), the region you connect from, and how you use our website. When you type a church address, the text you enter is sent to a mapping service to suggest matching addresses.

4. How we use it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. How AI is used

Faithly uses automated systems to recognise speech, translate it and turn it into spoken audio. Service summaries and reports are written with Claude, a model made by Anthropic, which we access through Amazon Bedrock. Service content is processed only to deliver Faithly, and we do not use it to train AI models.

6. Where your information is stored

Each church chooses a service region. Data is stored with Amazon Web Services in Sydney (Australia), London (United Kingdom), São Paulo (Brazil) or Oregon (United States). Some processing may happen in other countries. When information leaves Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Deleting your information

You can ask us to delete your information, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

8. Security

Information is encrypted in transit and stored with access controls on Amazon Web Services. Sign-in uses one-time codes, and guest identifiers are never shared with other services. No system is perfectly secure, so if we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.

9. Your choices and rights

To make a request or a complaint, email contact@faithly.live. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or your local data protection authority.

10. Children

Children may attend services where Faithly is used. Faithly accounts are for people aged 16 and over. Younger people should join as a guest with a parent's or guardian's permission. Churches are responsible for following their own child safety policies when using Faithly. If you believe we hold a child's information without permission, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and service region, and understand how our website is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but some features may stop working.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Faithly changes. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell churches by email about any important change.
