Live captions so every member can follow the service

Faithly shows live captions of the sermon on the member’s own phone, in large text, in the language being spoken or in another one. Members who are deaf or hard of hearing follow the whole service, and no one has to ask for help.

How a member uses it

A member needs only their phone and a few seconds.

  1. Scan the QR code on the screen or in the bulletin with the phone camera.
  2. Choose the language: the one being spoken, or another.
  3. Make the text the size that suits you, and read along as the service happens.

Large text, set by the reader

Members make the text bigger or smaller to suit their eyes, and hold the phone as close as they like. Missed a line? Scroll back to read it again.

How far behind the speaker are the captions?

Captions follow the speaker about a second or two behind. The host can tune the speed, and online viewers can add a delay to match a video stream.

Headphones and assistive listening

Captions are the dependable way to follow for members who are deaf or hard of hearing. For members who can hear a little, the audio plays on the person's phone, so they can use headphones. A church can also plug the audio output of a computer or phone into any assistive listening system or transmitter to send it to other devices, and some churches already do.

Older members and visitors

Faithly runs in the phone browser, so there is no app to install and guests need no account. A volunteer from the welcome team can scan the code once with a member’s phone and the captions are there.

For church leaders

You need one device with your church audio, an internet connection and one QR code. We will set it up with you and stay for your first service. Faithly is free for churches at this stage. Our mission is to put this technology within reach of every church, whatever its size, so we will keep it free or at a reasonable price.

Frequently asked questions

Can members choose the text size?

Yes. Members make the text bigger or smaller to suit their eyes, and they can scroll back to read a line again.

Can members listen with headphones or assistive listening systems?

Captions let members who are deaf or hard of hearing follow the whole service. For members who can hear a little, the audio plays on their phone, so it can go to headphones. A church can also plug the audio output of a computer or phone into any assistive listening system or transmitter to send it to other devices, and some churches already do.

Is the text accurate for names and verses?

Very good for spoken content. Upload your sermon notes before the service so names, verses and terms come out right. Songs are harder, but the system is still able to translate most of them.

Do members need an account?

No. Guests scan the QR code and read in their phone browser, with no app and no account.

How far behind the speaker are the captions?

Captions follow the speaker about a second or two behind. The host can tune the speed, and online viewers can add a delay to match a video stream.
